Supporting Others

You may feel concerned because you have either witnessed or heard someone you know deal with or reference the signs and types of gender-based violence.

If you are concerned that someone you know is a victim of gender-based violence or abuse, the most important step you can take is to show that you are non-judgmental and supportive of them. You can also educate yourself about common types of abuse and challenges survivors face. If you’d like to learn about resources that might be helpful for your friend or loved one, you can call the Illinois Domestic Violence Help Line at 877-863-6338.
