NOTE: If your case includes any of the following factors, please include that in your message:
- The client needs to request accommodations or time off from work to attend court, counseling, or related services.
- Client needs to move out or change the locks of their residence for safety reasons.
- Other parent is refusing to return children or has taken the children without permission.
- The client’s immediate safety is at risk.
- VAWA, U Visa, or Battered Spouse Waivers (I-751) with impending deadlines (U certification is expiring within 30 days or less; child will turn 21 within 30 days or less; U Visa will expire within 30 days; Adjustment of Status application has already been filed by abusive spouse and client needs to convert to VAWA; Conditional residency card is expiring within 30 days or less).
- A DCFS case with a deadline or hearing within the next 7 days.
- A DCFS case involving an out-of-home safety plan.

NOTA: Si su caso incluye alguno de los siguientes factores, por favor inclúyalo en su mensaje:

- Casos de VAWA, Visa U o exenciones por cónyuge maltratado (formulario I-751) con plazos inminentes (la certificación U vence en 30 días o menos; el hijo cumplirá 21 años en 30 días o menos; la Visa U vencerá en 30 días; el cónyuge abusivo ya presentó la solicitud de ajuste de estatus y el cliente necesita cambiar a VAWA; la tarjeta de residencia condicional vence en 30 días o menos).
- Un caso del DCFS con un plazo o una audiencia programada para los próximos 7 días.
- Un caso del DCFS que implique un plan de seguridad fuera del hogar.
Referrals: To refer your client to Ascend Justice, please have them fill out our intake form. Then email it to intake@ascendjustice.org, along with any case paperwork and a Release of Legal Information form.
If this is an emergency and you need an Order of Protection: please go directly to the Cook County Domestic Violence Courthouse (555 W Harrison). Our clinic is open Monday through Friday, beginning at 8:30 a.m. If our clinic is open and accepting clients, you may be directed there for assistance. You may also be able to receive help from another onsite organization or to file the paperwork on your own.
