Celebration of Courage 2020 Thank You

Dear Friends,

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our virtual Celebration of Courage last night. If you were not able to join, I hope you will watch it when you can. While we would have much preferred to gather in person, it was a pleasure to hear from clients Latasha and Bojana, as well as from Mary Catherine Gibbs and Ashley Cano, our 2020 Champions of Justice.

I am so grateful for the support of our sponsors and you, our donors. These are truly uncertain and scary times for all of us. Because of donors like you, we raised over $25,000, and including our generous sponsorships, our total raised is over $105,000. Your selfless generosity helps ensure that the survivors and families we serve will have an advocate and a better chance at achieving safety or keeping their family together. At a systemic level, your support means that Ascend Justice can keep fighting to make the justice and child welfare systems more equitable, supportive and accountable.

I have high hopes that next year will find us gathered together for a safe, festive celebration. For now, we must be brave enough to face the realities – including that survivors of domestic violence are confronting threats that are unprecedented in our lifetime, and families involved in the child welfare system face untenable, life-altering choices.

Facing those realities together, we can impact them. Thank you for joining us as we take on this challenge together.
